Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Just a quick note from Chicago -- I just had to take this pic. Thought some of you would also get a kick out of it. So what are these buildings, anyway? Condos?

If anybody wants the full-size high res version, you can download it here. I haven't done any editing or cropping. Just pulled it off the camera.

If this doesn't ring a bell, look here for a hint. Well, more than a hint. Anyway...

The very bottom part is just parking, that's mostly cutoff. They're actually called Marina City. There's a lot of condiminiums I believe but apparently a bunch of shops and restaurants, too. Right below and to the left of the picture you took is HouseOfBlues Chicago, though you can't see it in this pic. That River North area is an all around cool little place to hang out for a day.

And I've always loved that album cover. It's a very solid Chicagoland artist cover you could say.

great pics, rich. yeah the marina towers is an interesting piece of architecture. a buddy of mine lives there and as you can imagine has great views of the city and such. the old sun times building used to be two buildings down, and while it was ugly it was still kinda cool.

They are condos, and I, and other Chicagoans, refer to them as the corn-cobb towers

I guess the site of the old Sun-Times building is where they're building the new Trump Tower downtown. Right?

yep the new trump is taking the place of the old suntimes bldg. i will second the corn cob reference. i remember as a kid going into the city and my father would always call them the corn cobs.

Oh for sure, I've never called them anything but The Corn Cob Towers, I had to look up the actual name because I can never recall it.
