Monday morning disco
I was reluctant to give them a chance because of their stupid band name, but now I imagine I'll be giving Simian Mobile Disco some more attention. I realize they've been making a name for themselves on the DJ/production/remix circuit for a couple years, but as you may be aware I have very little interest in such things (or, frankly, the artists they've been collaborating with). Let's hope they continue making their own music rather than continually toiling in the remix ghetto.
Simian Mobile Disco - I Believe
I don't know if it's disco, but it sure is dance music. Maybe even for, like, robots.
Athlete has been getting renewed attention with their current release, Beyond the Neighborhood, and I can't say I'm into single "Airport Disco." Frankly, I'm a bit puzzled by all the blog buzz. Isn't this just the sound of generic indie rock in 2007?
Athlete - Airport Disco
Oh, and by the way... this is disco in name only. What a rip. Here's what Spidey and I have to say about that:

Kevin and company, show 'em how it's done:

Take notes, suckas.

The Trey Told 'Em remix of "I Believe" is pretty amazing if you like the album version (it's on the Forkcast).

Funny that you should mention them, because I was gonna say a little something about the new Simian Mobile Disco album today. Listened to it a bunch over the weekend.

Man, "I Believe" is one of the best singles of the year. I can't stop listening to it.
