Bass army > Kanye West

Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom" at Live Earth, complete with about a dozen bass players:

Gotta say, I've never seen anything quite like that.

The highlight for me, however, was probably Kanye West coming out to guest with The Police during "Message in a Bottle" and being completely useless. Awful and hilarious. Oh, and John Mayer was out there too.

The lineup was pretty lame, so I stayed away for the most part. Anything I missed worth checking out?

Silly Kanye, grunting isn't endearing.

Also, how unhappy was Sting with Mr. West's grunts? Very unhappy.

I have to say that i really enjoyed Madonna with the guys from Gogol Bordello. Flame me if you must but it was solid.

As far as the rest, I would have more comments on bands that did not do it for me than did. For instance:
Linkin Park-terrible, aweful
Alicia Keys-Horrible
Roger Waters-i did not like it, anyone agree?
Kanye West-crap
Smashing Pumpkins-ARGH! His voice is painful.

I dunno, I gave it a chance, and it was better TV then what is usually on, although I watched the same commercial about twenty times.

Can't flame ya, didn't see it. Gogol Bordello kicks ass though. I will say that I do like a lot of older Madonna stuff. Not enough to listen to it, really, but there's some nostalgic value there.

I did catch a song or two of Pumpkins at the end of their set. Corgan's voice has always turned me off, so it's no surprise I wasn't into it.

I completely forgot to watch it but Leanna said afterwards that the Madonna stuff was the best. (Watching the YouTube performances of her reminds me why I work out every day...) Going with Gogol Bordello was a brilliant move and I hope they get the fame they deserve. They were one of the hardest working bands I've ever seen live.
