Checking in with The Selmanaires

I had a chance to get in a little chit-chat with Tommy and Mathis from The Selmanaires yesterday, and there's good news from the Atlanta quartet's camp.

They have completed recording their sophomore album, which will be due in early 2008 on International Hits. As mentioned here a while back, they are also preparing for an extensive tour with Black Lips which now also includes a one-off date in Fargo with Old Time Relijun. They also recently participated in the filming on the Atlanta edition of the "Burn to Shine" series along with Mastodon, Black Lips, Deerhunter, The Coathangers, The Liverhearts, and others. Each band played a set in an abandoned/condemned building before its destruction. That release is due next year, but no date has been set.

The Selmanaires will release a "Just to Get Your Love"/"Verdigris Intrigue" 7" next month featuring two songs from the new album. They were kind enough to leak an advance copy my way, so here is "Verdigris Intrigue" hot off the presses:

The 7" is not yet available for sale, but will be on International Hits.

The Selmanaires play the Star Bar in Atlanta on August 23 with Anna Kramer and Gringo Star before going on tour.
