Live, from Sweden... it's Saturday night!

Limited time for blog stuff today, but wanted to share with everyone a couple videos by some great Swedish popsters. Clearly following the bold leadership of Nicolai Dunger, the Swedes continue their conquest of C&T.

First up, a live performance of "Funeral Face" by Suburban Kids with Biblical Names. Deriving their name from Silver Jews' "People" this band's sound is akin to that of Magnetic Fields, Mountain Goats, or da Joos. They feature fun instrumentation and harmonies, and I've been digging their album #3 for a while now.

You can also download the song courtesy of the band:

Three more (along with this one) can be downloaded at their MySpace page.

Buy the album here.

Next up is Jens Lekman's video for "You are the Light" from Oh You're So Silent Jens. Jens has received a good bit of attention lately, so I'm going to refrain from much explanation. Great pop sensibilities, quirky lyrics, and hand claps while in police custody. And, uh... why is he wearing armor?

You can also download an mp3 of this song thanks to Secretly Canadian:

Nice download choices. I've heard a bit about these bands over the past few months, but have yet to listen to them because of a 30-something-CDs-to-get-long list already in existance.

Thanks for posting those. I can't say enough about the music that's coming out of Sweden and other northern European countries right now - it's goooooood.
