Around the horn

The Sufjan Stevens track from the current Believer Magazine compilation is spreading through the blogosphere like wildfire. Why? Because it's rocktastic. Buy it.

Sufjan Stevens - In the Words of the Governor

The New Pornographers have a new record, Challengers, due on August 21. The lead single has been getting strong response online, and after a couple listens I can say I like it too.

New Pornographers - My Rights Versus Yours

I have a huge crush on the new Spoon album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, due July 10. You can pre-order and get bonus goodies from Merge.

Spoon - The Underdog

Sweden's Shout Out Louds will release Our Ill Wills in September, and have just released the record's first single.

Shout Out Louds - Tonight I Have to Leave It

The Poison Control Center have signed to Afternoon Records and will release A Collage of Impressions in the fall. In the meantime, a 6-track limited EP featuring album track "Glory Us" is due on July 10.

Speed Racer's Mach 5 racer from the forthcoming film adaptation has been revealed.

There's a new horror movie about killer sheep?

Some people in Rhode Island with nothing better to do are fighting over who gets to have 867-5309 as their phone number. Jenny not impressed.

Kanye West claims he is the Mel Gibson of the music world. Still no apology for terrible, horrible, no good, very bad treatment of "Young Folks."

Spin and others report that CBS has purchased Last.fm.

So, who can tell me when Once is coming to Atlanta? Please?

Let me know when you hear about Once opening in Atlanta, i'll head over there and see it too. Though i've heard that it's per screen average has been insane, so they've mentioned it possibly opening on more screens soon.

I'm surprised it isn't here yet. I think it started in limited release two weeks ago, so and I've seen previews for it at the local Regal super-mondo-grande-megaplex. I think one ran before Waitress, actually.
