Fishboy and Buddy Holly save the Lone Star State (or not)

Among the artists who will be visiting Athens for this year's Popfest (August 8-11) is Fishboy from Denton, Texas. I posted a Fishboy track last week, but have since been informed of something exciting coming up.

Fishboy is currently working on a concept album/rock opera due for release on Athens label Happy Happy Birthday to Me in the fall. The premise? Here's how Fishboy tells it:

It's a rock opera about how myself, the band and the ghost of Buddy Holly attempt to save Texas by going on a tour/crime spree in order to perform all 8030 of the songs I've written in my sleep since I was in the womb. It's appropriately titled: Albatross: How We Failed To Save The Lone Star State With The Power Of Rock And Roll.

Sounds fun, no? Fishboy has been kind enough to send along a few sample tracks; this is some nifty stuff, and I'm eager to hear it in context:

Fishboy - Parachute (Using the Ghost of Buddy Holly as a)
Fishboy - Blackout Flashback
Fishboy - Halftime at the Propername Spelling Bee

Hopefully more info on the full-length will be coming soon. For more on Fishboy check out their Myspace.
